No Hot Water? Electric vs Gas Geyser Troubleshooting

No hot water is the most common geyser complaint we see across Rawalpindi and Islamabad, especially as the weather cools. The fix depends heavily on whether you have an electric or gas geyser, so we’ve split the troubleshooting by type.

Electric Geyser: No Hot Water

Tripped circuit or breaker

Check your breaker panel first. If the geyser’s circuit has tripped, resetting it may solve the problem immediately, though repeated tripping usually means a deeper electrical fault.

Faulty thermostat or heating element

If power is reaching the geyser but water still isn’t heating, the thermostat or heating element has likely failed and needs replacement.

Sediment buildup in the tank

Hard water common in parts of Rawalpindi and Islamabad can leave mineral deposits that insulate the heating element, making it work harder for weaker results over time.

Gas Geyser: No Hot Water

Pilot light or ignition failure

If the pilot light won’t stay lit, or the geyser won’t ignite at all, this is usually the first thing a technician checks.

Gas supply or pressure issue

Low gas pressure from the supply line can prevent proper ignition or cause lukewarm water instead of hot.

Blocked flue or ventilation

A blocked flue is both a performance issue and a safety issue, and should always be checked by a technician rather than ignored.

Quick Answers

Why does my geyser only give lukewarm water?

For electric geysers, this is usually a weakening heating element or thermostat. For gas geysers, it’s often low gas pressure or a partially blocked burner.

Is a leaking geyser dangerous?

A leaking tank should be switched off and checked promptly, both to prevent water damage and because continued use can worsen the leak.
